IM: About
“Inspired by the past, but never stuck in it, Stockholm-born brothers Jacob Hägg and Axel Hägg combine subculture aesthetics with everything they find on the darkest corners of the web, creating retro-futuristic streetwear that’s both dissident and paranoid. It’s that marriage of pre-internet styles with a technology-based edge that makes Brashy Studios super 90’s. But distinctly now — oh, and really cool.”

brashy studios
Chapter one of the lineage. A world built before the tools had names. Brashy Studios was founded in 2011 by Jacob Hägg and Axel Hägg and built across Stockholm and Los Angeles. It was never only a label. It was a visual world — built from subculture aesthetics, internet-era codes, material tension, and a distinct sense of distance. The work moved between product and cultural signal as one continuous system. Before contemporary AI became part of image-making, Hägg had already proven that taste could travel: through fashion, press, retail, institutions, and celebrity, without paid placement and without asking permission from the center.
the world
Brashy Studios was a streetwear label, but that description is too small. It drew from pre-internet styles, digital artefacts, gardening uniforms, transparent PVC, subcultural codes, and early web language — not as references, but as a coherent world. The work was not built to imitate fashion language. It built its own signal.

the signal
What began as a label became a cultural signifier. Brashy Studios moved organically through artists, press, stores, and institutions because the work held as more than product. It was recognised before it was explained. That movement mattered. It proved that a distinct world, built with real internal logic, could travel from niche culture into global visibility without flattening itself into trend.
the record
Brashy Studios entered the MoMA exhibition “ Is Fashion Modern “. It was carried by Colette, KITH, and I.T Hong Kong. It appeared through Vogue, New York Times, i-D, T Magazine, Highsnobiety, Hypebae, and DAZED. It was worn by Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Bella Hadid, Charli XCX, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Kardashian and Kaia Gerber. These were not borrowed signals. They were consequences of the work holding.
born on internet
Brashy Studios emerged from a native relationship to internet culture long before that became a marketable position. It absorbed the language of forums, subcultures, digital artefacts, bootlegs, technical surfaces, and cultural drift, then translated them into product, image, and atmosphere with enough precision to feel inevitable. That internet-native formation still matters. It remains part of the deeper logic behind Intelligence Matters.

what brashy STUDIOS proved
Taste is not instinct. It is a system. A world can travel without permission from the center. Cultural credibility cannot be bought. The right network does not disappear when the first chapter ends. This is what makes Brashy relevant now. It proved the eye before the current tools existed.
the system
Brashy was not only a product label. It was a system. Garments, packaging, e-commerce, campaigns, typography, filters, and image treatments all belonged to the same universe. The work did not depend on one category to hold its identity. The signal survived across formats. That is part of what made it durable. It could move between object, image, and context without losing authorship.
WHY IT MATTERS NOW
This page is not here to archive a former life. It is here because Brashy Studios is part of the proof structure behind Intelligence Matters. The point is not nostalgia. The point is record.
Before the current wave of AI-native studios, Brashy Studios had already demonstrated that taste could become system, that image could become world, and that the right signal could travel from niche culture into institutions, press, and mass recognition without losing its charge. That first chapter is why the second chapter can speak with confidence.
